Hello World,

30 September; Author: sgables

I don’t think it would be fair to start this without first saying, “Thank You!!”.  VetMed Animal Health has enjoyed a very successful startup and we have a lot to be thankful for.  It is a long and scary trip from sitting across a table discussing the concept of a new veterinary practice to getting paint on the walls and medication on the shelves.  Our difficulties have been small given the accomplishments and we have been truly blessed.  The Mount Juliet community has been incredible.  From city officials and contractors to fellow small business owners to clients and animal owners, the support has been unbelievable.  I moved my family to the Nashville area in 2000 to practice veterinary medicine.  I can truly say that this is home for us now.  Thank you.

Welcome to Doctor’s Notes!  This section of our blog is set aside for the doctors at VetMed Animal Health to do a little cyber-socializing and hopefully stir up some discussion on topics that may be of interest to our clients and visitors to our website.  I am not really sure what the exact theme will end up being and would like to know what others are interested in.  We could go from veterinary news to popular topics in veterinary care to just whatever comes to mind.  If you are reading this, consider yourself formally invited to let us know what’s on your mind.

Dr. Gables

What does it mean to us?  It means:

  • When you see a doctor, you are speaking to an owner of our business.  Any concerns about your pet’s health or the office as a whole can be directed to someone who has control over making changes.
  • There is no corporate “playbook” for the care of your pet.  Our doctors and staff use their professional experience and training to provide personalized care to your animal.
  • Both of our doctors live in Wilson County.
  • Our computer hardware is purchased from Dell.  Even though they are an international company, they have offices and warehouses in Wilson County.
  • Whether it’s Famous Gyros, Taylormade Cafe, or Cinco De Mayo we eat local!
  • We provide veterinary services for the Mount Juliet Animal Shelter.
  • We support local shelters and rescues.
  • We are a member of the Chamber of Commerce for Mount Juliet/ West Wilson County
  • Our CPA and Lawyer are based in Wilson County

We appreciate you and understand that you have a choice in where you take your pet.  We care about your animal and the community as a whole.  Thank you for choosing us and supporting us.  We’ve grown in staff since we’ve opened, and we’re going to keep growing as we bring you the next level of veterinary care.

Aubree is Certifiable (Really she is CERTIFIED)

2 September; Author: jgables

Aubree Shannon our head veterinary technician has just completed her national certification. She attended and graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh and received her results that she passed her national boards.  Now if you are wondering what exactly a vet tech is or does, let me help you with that. A certified veterinary technician (CVT) is a person that is a graduate of an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accredited program and has passed a rigid national competency examination.   Upon graduation, students receive an Associate in Science degree in Veterinary Technology and are eligible to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE).  The veterinary technician’s main function is to be client educators, laboratory researchers, nurses and a professional assistant to the Veterinarian. Congratulations to Aubree Shannon, CVT!
