Freeway

27 June; Author: eharris

He was a ball of light gold fur curled up in a box with his 3 sisters in front of a Target store the first time I ever saw Freeway. He lived with me for a little over 10 years he was a healthy, independent, happy husky lab mix, stubborn and friendly not given to playing fetch but always close watching out for me until the day he collapsed. That is when Dr. Nicole and the whole family at Vet Med entered our lives. Freeway could not walk-and in great pain- he still tried his best to do all we asked of him. Outside of a misunderstanding on his part as to who was there to help him he behaved so very well while they tried to make him pain free, but it was not to be, part of his spinal column had collapsed. It could not be repaired. The decision was made to let Freeway cross the Rainbow Bridge on August 26, 2009. Each member of this wonderful family stayed to talk with Freeway and me even when we knew he could no longer hear us and we cried for missing him. They treated my friend as each of us would like to be treated in life and in death.  I count each of them as not just caring professionals who lend their expertise to our friends but as family who love them too. Thank you all at Vet Med- Nicole, Scott Allyson, Tracey Megan, and Aubrey.  Anyone I forgot to mention –forgive me.

In loving memory of Freeway a most loving friend.

Ink

I would like to create a new category for our clients and staff.  This category is denoted “In Memory Of”.  We have spoken to a few clients about this, and think it is a great idea.  I would like to start off this category by thanking Ink for making our life more interesting.  Ink was rescued by my wife when she worked at an emergency clinic in Lexington, Kentucky.  She had the “monkey paw”, and would wrap her arm around your arm when she wanted something, mostly food.  She was extremely independent, and didn’t like it if you got her out of her favorite spot, which most of the time was on the couch.  She past away yesterday, June 19 2010.  She was at least 15 years old, and was with us for 12 of those years.  Here’s to you Ink.  Eric and Nicole Harris
